St Chad’s

Shrewsbury’s round church, St Chad’s was opened in 1792. And someone told me that on the original plans it was the standard rectangular shape, but just prior to building, the architect pulled a fast one and made it round. Years after painting this, a local paper contacted me after visiting my old web site (supposedly to do a peice about my paintings in general). Actually, they had quite a different take in mind (see right)
It always surprises me how precious people are when it comes to their religion
I’m not in the slightest bit religious, I just thought it looked like a giant willy (even more than most churches). Well, see for yourself:
